# Install Dabadoro and sign in

> Download the installer for Windows, macOS or Linux, run it, and open Dabadoro. Press Log in or Create account to sign in with a free account in your browser. The browser then hands you back to the app. After the first sync, Dabadoro also works offline.

## Install the app

Your system is picked for you. Switch the tab if you are installing for another computer.

**Install on Windows**

Windows, 64-bit

- [Installer (.exe)](https://github.com/achortex/Dabadoro-Planner/releases/download/v1.2.1/Dabadoro_1.2.1_x64-setup.exe): 3.9 MB
- [Windows Installer package (.msi)](https://github.com/achortex/Dabadoro-Planner/releases/download/v1.2.1/Dabadoro_1.2.1_x64_en-US.msi): 5.4 MB

1. **Run the .exe installer**

Follow the setup steps. The .msi package installs the same app.

2. **Get past SmartScreen if it appears**

Windows may stop a new app. Choose **More info**, then **Run anyway**.

3. **Open Dabadoro**

   From the Start menu.

**Install on macOS**

macOS 11 or later, Apple Silicon or Intel

- [Apple Silicon (.dmg)](https://github.com/achortex/Dabadoro-Planner/releases/download/v1.2.1/Dabadoro_1.2.1_aarch64.dmg): 5.4 MB
- [Intel (.dmg)](https://github.com/achortex/Dabadoro-Planner/releases/download/v1.2.1/Dabadoro_1.2.1_x64.dmg): 5.5 MB

1. **Open the .dmg**

Choose Apple Silicon for an M-series Mac, Intel for an older one. Drag Dabadoro into Applications.

2. **Allow the first launch**

macOS asks once before the first launch. Open the app, then choose Open Anyway in System Settings, Privacy & Security.

3. **Open Dabadoro**

   From Applications or Launchpad.

**Install on Linux**

Linux x86_64 with WebKitGTK 4.1 (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora 38+)

- [AppImage](https://github.com/achortex/Dabadoro-Planner/releases/download/v1.2.1/Dabadoro_1.2.1_amd64.AppImage): 85 MB
- [Debian and Ubuntu (.deb)](https://github.com/achortex/Dabadoro-Planner/releases/download/v1.2.1/Dabadoro_1.2.1_amd64.deb): 7.1 MB
- [Fedora (.rpm)](https://github.com/achortex/Dabadoro-Planner/releases/download/v1.2.1/Dabadoro-1.2.1-1.x86_64.rpm): 7.1 MB

1. **Pick a format**

The AppImage updates from inside the app. The .deb and .rpm packages update by hand.

2. **Make the AppImage executable**

Make it executable, then open it. Sign-in returns to the app through xdg-utils, so install it if your system does not have it.

3. **Open Dabadoro**

Double-click the AppImage, or open the app from your menu.

If the app does not open, or sign-in does not return to it, see [install and first launch](https://dabadoro.com/docs/troubleshooting-faq/#install) in troubleshooting.

## Sign in through your browser

The desktop app needs a free account. Signing in happens on dabadoro.com, in your own browser.

*Figure: The Dabadoro sign-in screen: Welcome to Dabadoro! with the Log in and Create account buttons.*

- **Log in**: For an account you already have.
- **Create account**: Makes a free account first.

1. **Press Log in or Create account**

Your browser opens on the sign-in page.

2. **Finish in the browser**

If the browser asks to open Dabadoro, allow it.

3. **Back in the app**

The dashboard opens. You stay signed in on this computer.

> **Note:** The first sign-in needs a connection. Offline, the screen reads **Waiting for connection. You can log in once you are back online.**

## Wait for the first sync

On a new computer, the app fetches your data once before it opens.

- syncing: Your data is on its way to this computer.
- online: Done. Changes are saved and synced.

*The status bar, bottom left of the window, during the first sync and after it.*

After that first pull, Dabadoro opens straight from the data on your computer. How saving and syncing work is in [sync and accounts](https://dabadoro.com/docs/sync-and-accounts/).

On a new account, Daba's guide then walks you to your first coins. Try the same steps in [your first five minutes](https://dabadoro.com/docs/first-five-minutes/).

> **Tip:** Click **sync error** in the status bar to see what went wrong and copy a report.

## Keep Dabadoro up to date

The app checks for new versions on its own and asks before it installs one.

Press **Download**, then **Install now**, or **Later** to keep working. To check by hand, open Settings, then the System tab, and press **Check for updates**.

> **Note:** The .deb and .rpm packages do not update from inside the app. Install the new file from the [Linux download page](https://dabadoro.com/download/linux/).
