# Fix common problems

> Most problems have a quick fix. Windows and macOS ask once before the first launch, Linux needs WebKitGTK 4.1, and the status bar names any sync problem. Find your symptom below by area: installing, signing in and sync, the floating timer, the focus timer, the AI Command Centre and the first-run guide.

## Install and first launch

The installers are not signed with an Apple or Microsoft certificate yet, so each system asks once.

### Windows says it protected my PC

**Why:** Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warns about new apps without a download history, and the installer is not signed yet.

1. Choose **More info** in the blue window.
2. Choose **Run anyway**. The installer starts.

Without a Run anyway button, Smart App Control on Windows 11 is blocking the unsigned app. The [Windows download page](https://dabadoro.com/download/windows/) shows each step.

### macOS says it cannot verify Dabadoro

**Why:** The app is not signed with an Apple developer certificate yet. macOS asks once before the first launch.

1. Open Dabadoro once and close the alert.
2. Open System Settings, then **Privacy & Security**, and choose **Open Anyway**.
3. Confirm. macOS remembers the choice.

On macOS 14 and earlier, Control-click Dabadoro in Applications and choose **Open** twice. See the [macOS download page](https://dabadoro.com/download/mac/).

### Dabadoro does not start on Linux

**Why:** Dabadoro needs Linux x86_64 with WebKitGTK 4.1 (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora 38+). The AppImage also needs FUSE 2.

1. Make the AppImage executable: `chmod +x` on the file.
2. Install FUSE 2: `libfuse2`, or `libfuse2t64` on Ubuntu 24.04 and later.
3. Check that your system has WebKitGTK 4.1, then start the app again.

The [Linux download page](https://dabadoro.com/download/linux/) has the command for each distribution.

### Sign-in does not come back to the app

**Why:** Dabadoro signs you in through your browser, then a link hands you back to the app. The first sign-in needs a connection.

1. Check that you are online. While offline, **Log in** waits for a connection.
2. Sign in again from the app, and let the browser open Dabadoro when it asks.
3. On Linux, keep the AppImage in one folder and start it from there.

## Sign-in and sync

The status bar at the bottom left says whether your changes are saved and synced.

*Figure: The status bar states: online, syncing, offline, sync error, and the not synced notice.*

*The four states of the status bar, and the notice for refused changes. Example data.*

### The status bar says sync error

**Why:** Dabadoro could not save your latest changes to your account. They are still on this computer.

1. Click **sync error** to open the details, then press **Retry sync**.

If the error stays, [Fix a sync error](https://dabadoro.com/docs/sync-and-accounts/#error) shows how to send us the report.

### The status bar says not synced

**Why:** The server refused some changes, so they are only on this computer.

1. Click the notice, then choose **Try again** or **Use the cloud copy** for each change.

Each choice is explained in [changes that were not synced](https://dabadoro.com/docs/sync-and-accounts/#not-synced).

### The status bar says offline

**Why:** Dabadoro cannot reach the server. You can keep working.

1. Nothing to do. Changes are saved on this computer and sync when you are back online.

Meanwhile, Analytics shows **Showing data saved on this device** and leaves out changes from your other computers.

## Floating timer

Both fixes start on the Timer tab in Settings.

### The floating timer does not show

**Why:** It needs the setting on, a signed-in account, a running session, and another window in front.

1. Check **Show the floating timer** in Settings, on the **Timer** tab.
2. Start a session in Dabadoro, then click into another window.
3. If you pressed the eye button, it stays hidden until that session ends.

Each condition is explained on the [floating timer page](https://dabadoro.com/docs/floating-timer/#when).

### The floating timer hides when I pause

**Why:** **Show while paused** is off.

1. Turn on **Show while paused** in Settings, on the **Timer** tab.

## Focus timer

Shortcuts and the timer work while the Dabadoro window is in front.

*Figure: The bottom of the timer panel: the Start focus button with its Space key, and under it Notes and checklist with the text cursor in the note field.*

- **Start focus**: Space presses it once a task or habit is picked.
- **A field in use**: With the cursor in a field, Space types a space. Click an empty part of the window first.

*The bottom of the timer panel, with the cursor in the note field. Example data.*

### Space does not start the timer

**Why:** Shortcuts pause while you type in a field or while a dialog is open, and the timer needs a task or habit to time.

1. Click an empty part of the window, or close the open dialog.
2. Click a task or habit on the schedule to pick it.
3. Press `Space` again.

## AI Command Centre

The AI Command Centre needs a connection and gives one free programme a day.

### I cannot find the AI Command Centre

**Why:** It opens from Daba, the clock widget in the corner of the dashboard. The widget may be switched off.

1. Open Settings, then the **Appearance** tab, and turn on **Show clock widget**.
2. Click Daba, or the clock, on the dashboard.

### It says Limit reached

**Why:** You used today's free programme. The count starts again at midnight UTC, and the screen shows that time in yours.

1. Come back after the time shown. Programmes you applied stay on your dashboard to edit.

A generation that fails does not use your programme, up to 3 times a day. See [the daily limit](https://dabadoro.com/docs/ai-command-center/#limit).

### The experts or questions do not load

**Why:** The expert list and the questions come from the server.

1. Check your connection and that you are signed in.
2. Close the AI Command Centre and open it again.

A programme that finished late shows **Open your last programme**. See the [AI Command Centre guide](https://dabadoro.com/docs/ai-command-center/).

## Guide and undo

Two things people look for after the first day.

*Figure: Settings, System tab: the Guide row, Five short steps to your first coins, and the Show the guide again button.*

*Figure: The message after a delete: Undo delete task, with an Undo button and a bar that runs down.*

- **Show the guide again**: Settings, System tab. It opens the guide from the start.
- **Undo**: Shown for a few seconds after a change. The bar runs down the time left.

*The Guide row in Settings, and the message after you delete a task.*

### I want the first-run guide again

**Why:** The guide runs once on each computer, for an account with no tasks, habits or completions yet.

1. Open Settings, then the **System** tab.
2. Choose **Show the guide again**.

The five steps are also in [your first five minutes](https://dabadoro.com/docs/first-five-minutes/).

### I deleted something by mistake

**Why:** Deleting needs a press and hold, but a delete can still happen.

1. Press `Ctrl+Z` to undo it.
2. Or press **Undo** in the message that appears after the change.
