Questions about downloading

Do I need an account?

Yes, a free one for the desktop app. It syncs your data, and the app works offline after the first sign-in. The web timer needs no account.

Why does my computer warn me before the first launch?

The installers are not signed with an Apple or Microsoft developer certificate yet. Windows shows a SmartScreen prompt and macOS asks once. The Windows and macOS pages show each step.

How do updates work?

The app checks for a new version shortly after it starts and every six hours. It shows a notice, then downloads and installs the update only when you choose. Linux .deb and .rpm installs update from the Linux page.
