Install on Windows

Four steps, with one Windows prompt on the way. The pictures show each prompt as Windows draws it.

  1. Download the installer

Save the .exe installer. Your browser may ask whether to keep it, because the file is new.

    Keep

Some browsers ask before they keep a new app. Choose Keep.

  2. Run it, then choose More info

Windows may stop a new installer that is not signed yet. This is the SmartScreen prompt.

    More info

Shows the file name, the publisher and the Run anyway button.

  3. Choose Run anyway

Check that the app name is the file you downloaded, then run it. The setup adds Dabadoro to the Start menu.

    Unknown publisher

The installer has no code-signing certificate yet, so Windows names no publisher.

    Run anyway

Starts the Dabadoro setup. Follow it to the end.

  4. Sign in through your browser

Dabadoro needs a free account. It syncs your data, and after this first sign-in the app also works offline. How sync works.

Updates, packages and limits

Updates

The app checks for a new version while it runs. You choose when to download and when to install. How updates work.

The .msi package

For computers that an IT team sets up. It installs the same app, and it updates from inside the app too.

Smart App Control

On Windows 11 with Smart App Control on, Windows blocks Dabadoro until signed installers ship.

Windows 10

The setup may download Microsoft Edge WebView2 first, which the app uses to draw its window. Keep the connection on.

Questions about Windows

Why does Windows say it protected my PC?

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warns about new apps without a download history, and the installer is not signed yet. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

Should I download the .exe or the .msi?

Most people want the .exe installer. The .msi package is for managed installs, such as computers that an IT team sets up. Both install the same app, and both update from inside it.

Windows blocked Dabadoro and shows no Run anyway button. Why?

Smart App Control on Windows 11 blocks unsigned apps, with no exception for one app. It blocks Dabadoro until signed installers ship. The web Pomodoro timer works meanwhile.

How do I uninstall Dabadoro?

Open Windows Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps. Find Dabadoro and choose Uninstall. Your synced data stays in your account, so signing in again brings it back.
