How a focus session works

Pick a task, focus for one set, take the break, and finish the task when it is done.

  1. Step 1: Pick a task

Click a task on your schedule. Plan your day puts it there.

  2. Step 2: Press Space

The set starts at once, and the time counts for that task.

  3. Step 3: Take the break

After the set, a 5 minute break is ready. Breaks never count as focus time.

  4. Step 4: Press the tick to finish

The task is complete and pays the coins you set on it.

Sets and breaks

A cycle is 4 sets with a break after each. Progressive focus, in beta, makes each set a little longer.

4 sets and their breaks: 2h10min

  1. Set 125 min focus5 min
  2. Set 225 min focus5 min
  3. Set 325 min focus5 min
  4. Set 425 min focus15 min long break

Every set lasts 25 minutes. A long break comes after set 4, then the count starts again.

Who it suits

Three ways to set up the focus timer, and where it stops.

  • A student before midterms

The defaults: 25 minutes of focus, a 5 minute break, and a 15 minute long break after set 4.

  • A developer on a long task

Focus set to 50 and Short break to 10, with Auto-start breaks on, so each break starts by itself.

  • Someone easing in

Progressive focus from a 15 minute set, step 5: sets of 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes. More on an ADHD-friendly focus timer.

Where it helps

  • Time lands on the task you picked, so analytics show where your hours went.
  • Space starts and pauses, P switches Timer and Pomodoro, and F goes fullscreen.
  • A break starts only after a full set, and breaks never count as focus time.
  • The floating timer keeps the countdown in view while you work in other apps.

Where it does not

  • Its keys work while Dabadoro is the window in front.
  • One activity can track at most 6 hours.
  • There is no phone app. On a phone, use the web Pomodoro timer.

Questions about the focus timer

What are the default Pomodoro times in Dabadoro?

25 minutes of focus, a 5 minute short break, and a 15 minute long break after every 4 sets. Change any of them in Timer settings.

How do I start the timer?

Click a task on your schedule to pick it, then press Start focus or the Space key. The time you focus is saved to that task.

What is progressive focus?

Progressive focus, in beta, grows each set by 5 minutes up to 50 by default, and starts again after a long break. See progressive focus.

I forgot to start the timer. Can I add the time later?

Yes. Complete activity, in beta, logs the time for today or any of the last 7 days. It pays coins and keeps your streak; only timed minutes earn XP. See complete past days.

Which alarm sounds can I choose?

None, Harmonic, Echo and Celestial. Echo plays by default. Set the sound, its volume and how many times it repeats in Timer settings.

Is there a Pomodoro timer that needs no account?

Yes. The web Pomodoro timer runs in your browser with no account. The desktop app needs a free account, which also syncs your data.
